PDF to Word online
Turn a PDF into an editable Word document without uploading it
This PDF to Word converter reads your PDF in the browser, finds the text, fonts, images and page structure, and rebuilds them as a Word document you can edit. It is useful when you need to update a contract, reuse text from a report, fix a resume or copy a table out of a statement without retyping it.
What gets converted
Text is grouped into paragraphs by line position. Larger or bold lines become headings, bullet and numbered lists are rebuilt as real lists, and columns that line up are placed in simple tables. Bold and italic styling, embedded images and page breaks are kept when you use Best layout. If you prefer a cleaner file to rewrite, choose Editable text only.
Scanned PDFs and OCR
A scanned PDF is a set of pictures, so there is no text to copy until it is recognised. Turn on OCR scanned pages, choose the document language, and the converter reads each scanned page and adds the text to your Word file. OCR runs on your device and loads only when you ask for it, so regular conversions stay fast.
Private by design
Your PDF is processed in a background task in your browser, so the page stays responsive and your document is not uploaded to our servers. You can cancel at any time, and nothing is stored once you leave the page.
Be realistic about layout
PDF is a fixed-layout format and Word is a flowing one, so no converter can match every file perfectly. Multi-column pages, forms, text laid over images and decorative graphics may shift. Open the result, check the pages that matter, and make small adjustments in Word.

PDF to Word FAQ
Answers about converting PDF files to Word, scanned documents, privacy and limits.
How do I convert a PDF to Word?
Choose Browse PDF, select your file, adjust the page range and output mode if you need to, then select Convert to Word. When processing finishes, download the .docx file and open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Is this PDF to Word converter free?
Yes. You can convert PDF to Word for free without an account, a watermark or software to install.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Reading the PDF and building the Word document both happen in your browser, so your file stays on your device. The only optional download is the language data used by OCR, and your PDF is never sent anywhere.
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
Often it will be close, but not always. PDFs describe where text sits on a page, while Word flows text into paragraphs. Simple documents convert well; multi-column pages, forms, text over images and complex graphics may need some tidying in Word.
What is the difference between Best layout and Editable text only?
Best layout keeps page sizes, fonts, spacing, alignment and page breaks as closely as it can. Editable text only gives you one continuous flow of headings, paragraphs, lists and tables, which is easier to rewrite and reformat.
Can it convert scanned PDFs?
Yes, with the OCR scanned pages option. Scanned pages contain pictures of text, so OCR reads the pictures and turns them into editable text. Choose the language of the document for better accuracy. OCR is slower and may make small mistakes, so check the result.
Does it keep headings, lists, tables and images?
It detects headings from font size and weight, bullet and numbered lists, simple tables with aligned columns, bold and italic text, and embedded images. You can switch images off in the settings if you only need the text.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Choose Custom range and enter pages such as 1-3,5. Only those pages are processed, which is also the quickest way to handle a long document.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
If you know the password, yes. You will be asked for it when you add the file. The password is used only in your browser to open the document.
Is there a file size or page limit?
Files can be up to 50 MB and each conversion covers up to 200 pages. Pages are processed one at a time to keep memory use low, and you can convert a longer PDF in several ranges.
Why did my conversion fail?
The most common causes are a damaged PDF, a missing password, or a very large file that does not fit in your browser memory. Try a smaller page range, reopen the file, or save a fresh copy of the PDF and try again.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in modern mobile browsers, although long or scanned documents convert faster on a computer.
